BRONCHOSCOPY

Bronchoscopy is a medical procedure that involves the examination of the air passages in the lungs using a bronchoscope, which is a flexible tube with a light and a camera on the end. It allows a doctor, typically a pulmonologist (a specialist in lung and respiratory diseases), to visualize the inside of the airways, collect samples, and perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

During a bronchoscopy, the bronchoscope is usually inserted through the mouth or nose and passed through the throat and vocal cords into the trachea and bronchial tubes, which are the large air passages in the lungs. The bronchoscope is equipped with a light and a camera that allows the doctor to see the airway walls, bronchial tubes, and surrounding structures in real-time on a monitor.

Bronchoscopy can help diagnose many lung diseases, like infections, viruses, cancer, and tuberculosis.

Bronchoscopy applications are carried out successfully at our endoscopy unit.
