The name is a microbial disease caused by the virus family of enteroviruses. It seens in especially pre-school children, even in different age groups. It is a known disease that has been around the world for many years and it is not a rare or new disease.
How do you know that your child has hand, foot and mouth disease?
Spillage on the hands, feet and thighs with fever and sores occurs in throat. In addition, there may be sore throat, nasal discharge, vomiting and diarrhea, fatigue. Diagnosis is confirmed with a doctor's examination.
In Which way could he/she have been infected?
The patient may be infected by direct contact with fluids from the nasal discharge, saliva, ointment and skin rash on the skin.
Is there treatment?
There is no special treatment. Proximity is often mild and children often heal quickly. You may need medication for fever. The child who suffers from difficulty swallowing may be without appetite. What can we do to prevent contamination?
Sick children should stay away from school, preschool and crowded places until they are fully recovered.
General cleaning suggestions especially washing hands after contact with sick children is recommended. Again, avoid the toys, books, clothes of sick children.
