The most important feature of this device is that it is the first high-tech medical device not only in Turkey but also in Europe for the first time in our hospital. It is able to obtain diagnostic images in high resolutions even in lesions with very low radioactive substances even in millimeter-sized lesions. Thus, the radiation exposed to the patient is much more reduced and the cancer can be diagnosed in less than 1 cm lesions that can not be diagnosed in older devices. 
With our new PET CT device, the shots were completed in as little as 15 minutes, and the comfort of patients with claustrophobia or pain was significantly improved. 
PET CT can also be used diagnostically at much lower radiation doses in CT imaging. 

We shared our experience as the first user of GE DISCOVERY IQ PET CT in Turkey and Europe with a presentation by our Nuclear Medicine Specialist Dr. Özlenen Gonca ÇİVİ in the presence of many local and foreign colleagues attending the 28th National Nuclear Medicine Congress held in İzmir in April.
